(Lt. Colonel, Pilot, U. S. Air Force, WWII, Korea) (19 Oct 1918 MT-03 Feb 2013 MT, buried Eastern Montana Veterans Cemetery, Miles City, Custer County, MT) (1LT. and Pilot of a U. S. Army Air Corps Martin B-26 Bomber during the Battle of Midway. He attacked the Japanese Aircraft Carrier Akagi and during the battle passed over the flight deck of the Carrier at tree-top level in order to avoid the ship’s guns and the pursuit of Japanese fighter aircraft. The plane received over 500 hits by enemy aircraft before landing on Midway Island.
